The students participating in the iEarn project have written “Where I’m From” poems to learn more about each and their cultures. The idea of these poems came from a poem George Ella Lyon wrote in response to a poem from Stories I Ain’t Told Nobody Yet. George Ella Lyon made a list of her own where- I’m- froms and used them to create a poem. She realized how much fun it was to write “Where I’m From” poems and wanted to share this type of poem with people all over the world. To prepare to write our poems, we wrote four entries in our Writer’s Notebook. We wrote about family, place, emotions, and details. Through these poems, our friends in other countries will be able to learn more about us and we will be able to learn more about them.
